The Pilgrim's Progress

The first time that I ever heard about "The Pilgrim's Progress" was one day after I got in from work, my youngest son began to talk about it.  He was enrolled in a Christian School and they introduced him to this work.  I had always been skeptical of man's writings and I still am to some extent.

Years later while I was researching Church history, I came across John Bunyan and the story of how he wrote Pilgrim's Progress and the impact that it had then and wondered at why it is not more popular today. I determined to read this work for myself so I would have first-hand knowledge.  Most of the more conservative country Baptist still frown on reading any religious text other than the Holy Bible.  I find this somewhat ironic as many of them will read a romance or scary novel and not think twice about it.

I will warn you that the text is in much the same lingo or should I say "King's English" as the King James Version Bible and while that's just fine with me, some may have to read it slower to get the full message.  I believe that if you will purpose to read this publication and begin to travel alongside our pilgrim "Christian" as he leaves his home in the "City of Destruction", you will thoroughly enjoy the journey from his home to the "Celestial City."
